A big welcome to our new, full-time, female GP at the Yarram Medical Centre, Dr Surriya Baloch.

Dr Baloch will be taking appointments from Monday 7 July 2025 and has spent the last couple of weeks familiarising herself with YDHS, getting to know the team and completing handovers with some of our other GPs regarding patients that’s she’ll soon be seeing.

Dr Baloch brings over 17 years of rich and diverse clinical experience to our community. Originally from Pakistan, Dr. Baloch completed her medical degree there, followed by postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynaecology. She later earned a Master of Public Health from the University of Melbourne, further broadening her global medical perspective.

Dr Baloch has worked across a wide range of medical fields including emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, sexual health, surgical intensive care, general surgery and primary healthcare.

She is currently pursuing her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).

Her specific areas of interest include women’s health, sexual and reproductive health, adolescent health, mental health, chronic disease management, diabetes, weight management and family planning.

Dr Baloch is also highly skilled in a variety of clinical procedures as well, such as cervical screening, skin biopsies and excisions, contraceptive implant and Mirena insertion/removal, pessary insertion, plaster application and suturing.
