The Yarram Medical Centre is the local GP clinic for residents of Yarram and surrounding areas and is accessible via our main entrance in Commercial Road in Yarram.
Our mission at the medical centre is to provide evidence-based patient care incorporating a holistic approach toward diagnosis and management of illness.
Operating hours
Yarram Medical Centre operates from 9:00am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Otherwise please ring the after hours Health Direct Australia medical assistance line on 1800 022 222. You will be assessed by a Registered Nurse and if appropriate speak to a GP who will help you know what to do.
If you present to YDHS Urgent Care you will be assessed by a registered nurse who will assist you to access the care you need.

Dr Arvind Jhamb
Available for appointments five days a week plus occasional Saturday telehealth clinics.

Dr Matthew Samani

Dr Kalana Rathnayake
Dr Kalana (Kal) is a highly skilled General Practitioner with a diverse medical background spanning nearly a decade. Originally from Sri Lanka, Dr. Kal completed his medical degree and postgraduate training in Sri Lanka with experience in general medicine, general surgery, paediatrics, cardiology, general practice, critical care and emergency medicine gaining a diverse set of skills.
In 2025, he commenced full-time at Yarram Medical Centre, working towards his fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).
Areas of interest - General family medicine, chronic disease management, child and adolescent health, men’s and women’s health.
Dr Surriya Baloch
Dr Baloch is a dedicated General Practitioner bringing over 17 years of rich and diverse clinical experience to our community. Originally from Pakistan, Dr. Baloch completed her medical degree there, followed by postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynaecology. She later earned a Master of Public Health from the University of Melbourne, further broadening her global medical perspective.
Dr Baloch has worked across a wide range of medical fields including emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, sexual health, surgical intensive care, general surgery and primary healthcare. She is currently pursuing her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).
Areas of interest - Women’s health, sexual and reproductive health, adolescent health, mental health, chronic disease management, diabetes, weight management and family planning.
Dr Baloch is also highly skilled in a variety of clinical procedures such as cervical screening, skin biopsies and excisions, contraceptive implant and Mirena insertion/removal, pessary insertion, plaster application and suturing.

Billing Policy
Bulk Billing
Yarram Medical Centre offers bulk billing to all eligible Medicare card holders, including:
- Pensioners
- Healthcare Card holders
- Children under 16 years of age
- Staff of Yarram Medical Centre and Yarram and District Health Service
- Immunisation appointments
- Recall appointments for results
- Prescription-only consultations
We also bulk bill all relevant Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) unreferred services, including:
- Patients with chronic illnesses or those requiring frequent visits
- Frail, elderly patients and nursing home residents
- Mental health and eating disorder consultations
- Health assessments and preventative care consultations
- Minor procedures
Services Not Covered by Medicare
Some services are not covered under Medicare and therefore cannot be bulk billed. These include:
- Pre-employment medical examinations
- Insurance reports
- TAC-related assessments
- Commercial driver’s licence medicals
- Diving and aviation medicals
Fees for these services are fixed. Our staff will inform you of the applicable costs at the time of booking.
Private Billing
Patients who are not eligible for Medicare are privately billed. A receipt will be provided for insurance or personal reimbursement purposes.
Services that may be requested by patients that are not covered by bulk billing by Medicare are pre-employment medical examinations, reports, commercial driving licence assessments, diving and aviation medicals.
These charges are fixed in our system. Our staff will advise you of costs for these examinations when making a booking.
Yarram Medical Centre is accredited by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) and Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL).
