13 June 2025

In case you missed it, the Federal Government’s new Support at Home Program will now commence from 1 November 2025.

The new program, which will replace Home Care Packages, aims to provide a simpler, more equitable system for accessing support and helping Australians to remain living in their homes for longer.

We had originally been working towards a 1 July 2025 implementation date, and had been notifying all of our Home Care Package recipients and their loved ones and carers about these upcoming changes and what it might mean for them.

Given the revised implementation date, there will be no changes to Home Care Package recipients’ services between now and 1 November 2025.

The Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care is putting in place arrangements to transition existing Home Care Package recipients to the Support at Home program from 1 November 2025 at their current funding levels.

Importantly, YDHS will continue to provide support for home care clients under the Support at Home program once it commences in November.

While many recipients will observe little to no change once the new program comes into effect from 1 November 2025, we know that many in the community, including the loved ones and carers of Home Care Package recipients may have questions about these changes and will be looking for further information.

And so we’re continuing as planned with an information session in Yarram next week where you’ll be able to hear directly from YDHS staff about these changes and get answers to any questions that you might have.

Details for the session are provided below:

Date: Wednesday 18th June 2025

Time: 10:30am

Location: Yarram Neighbourhood House (the Fitness Zone), 251 Commercial Road Yarram.

RSVP: yarramcarers@gmail.com or call 5182 6294

A community lunch will follow at the Neighbourhood House from 12pm.

We hope to see you there.
