YDHS recipient of grant from Health Issues Centre

Yarram and District Health Service has recognised that the majority of patients who fall or develop pressure injuries are over the age of 65 and that many older patients have difficulty reading and comprehending the range of medical information provided on admission.

Yarram and District Health Service will receive funding and technical support to the value of $7,000 to create a series of videos that will be played during admission, in patient rooms, and on the organisation’s website.

Consumers and carers will be involved in the project team and provide advice on the video content and language and in the video production itself.

Danny Vadasz, CEO of Health Issues Centre, is excited that “Yarram and District Health Service has focused on the specific challenges faced by many ageing patients in understanding information presented at admission and discharge. Their proposal to develop a short video shows that new technology can be applied to ageing problems.”
