We’re heading into the cooler months which brings with it the flu season.

Annual influenza vaccination is recommended for everyone from mid-April onwards to be protected during the peak influenza season, which typically occurs between June and September.

YDHS will be running its flu vaccination clinic at the Yarram Medical Centre from late April.

The vaccination clinics will run every Tuesday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm for people aged over 65 and every Thursday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm for people aged under 65.

Flu vaccines are free for:

• people aged between six months and five years old (the flu vaccine can be given at the same time as other childhood vaccines).
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged six months and older.
• pregnant women (the vaccine can be given at any stage of pregnancy).
• people aged six months and older with medical conditions putting them at increased risk of severe influenza and its complications.

If you’re not eligible for a free vaccine but would like to get a flu shot at YDHS, you’re still able to.

You’ll simply need to consult with your GP and obtain a prescription, purchase the vaccine from the pharmacy, and bring it to the Yarram Medical Centre where one of our experienced team will administer it for you.

Appointments are required and can be made by calling the Yarram Medical Centre on 5182 0222 and selecting option 2.
