Board Bulletin – August 2018

1. Ms Frankie MacLennan welcomed YDHS new and returning Board Directors

The Board were pleased to welcome Dr Amanda Ormerod, Ms Angela Jacob and Mr Peter O’Reilly to the Board and Mr Len Neist who has been reappointed to the Board for a further 3 year term.

2. Presentation by Dr Greg Ivanoff

Dr Ivanoff met with the Board and Executive to discuss progress in developing Yarram Medical Centre (YMC) as a training practice. In August 2018 Dr Asfiya Asher joined YMC full time for her 6 month rotation as an Eastern Victoria General Practitioner Training (EVGPT) RACGP (Royal Australian College of GPs) Term 1 Registrar.

YMC is in the practice match for 2019 Registrars. Dr Ivanoff discussed the resources needed to establish a Rural Generalist training facility which includes the engagement of a second senior doctor.

3. The 2018 2019 Statement of Priorities

Ms Frankie MacLennan reported that with Ms Megan Jones, Assistant Director, Rural and Regional Health (pictured below) she had signed the YDHS Statement of Priorities. The Statement is an agreement between the Yarram and District Health Service and the Department of Health and Human Services and sets out the actions YDHS will take to contribute to the achievement of the Health 2040 Plan. The Statement is a public document and available on both the YDHS and DHHS website.
