Volunteer Week at YDHS

To celebrate national Volunteer Week, YDHS held a thank you event for its volunteers. The theme was “Celebrating the colourful personalities of our volunteers” and guests were asked to come dressed as brightly as possible, with a prize awarded for the best outfit. Volunteers were treated to a hot lunch and themed dessert including a rainbow fruit platter and multi-coloured trifles.

Yarram Secondary College students provided some wonderful entertainment including a song by the vocal ensemble, two solo bass pieces and a well-received skit about volunteers.

All volunteers were presented with Certificates of Appreciation and Volunteering Australia 2018 pins. Some lucky volunteers also received prizes generously donated by our local Fable Café and Woolworths. Bunnings Traralgon showed its support by donating two “Volunteer” camellias, which are named specially to honour volunteers.

YDHS is grateful to have over 80 volunteers from the local area who assist with everything from driving to gardening, sewing, providing companionship, running games and activities and assisting with exercise classes. They are a wonderful support to our health service and give generously of their time and talent.
